Triglav presented a similar game from the beginning as in the semi-final. It was based on a good start and a good defensive performance, which is why it led 7:0. Compared to their opponents, they had more energy, commitment and shooting, Split was helped in this respect by the time out, but not for long. The Slovenian team was successful with simple and efficient play, leading 20:8 in the 8th minute and winning the first quarter 24:12. It looked very similar in the second part of the game, Triglav had great confidence through the team performance and offensively they were extremely successful. This was reflected in the halftime score – 56:23.

Split couldn’t react adequately to the high tempo and efficiency in the second half, so the lead grew at a rapid pace. The Croatian team tried different options in their game, but none of them were successful in the long run. Therefore, before the last 10 minutes, which went into 77:37, it was already clear that Triglav would keep the duel for the third place. The final minutes were played in a calm spirit and pace, with players from the bench getting space on both sides. Triglav managed to break the 100-point barrier and end their successful run to the Final Four.

Post-game quotes:

Robert Matevžić, coach of Triglav: „We dominated the whole game. We played aggressive defense, and it’s much easier to play offense with that kind of defense. I want to congratulate my girls for finding the energy for this game. Thank you to all the fans who supported us during the weekend.“

Ana Šarić, player of Triglav: „We played a good game in which we converted a lot of shots. We were a little bit worried about the second half, because yesterday it wasn’t so good from our side. But we worked our way ahead, we kept the same pace and that’s why I’m proud of my girls. I am extremely happy that we got a medal and we will go home happy.“

Vjekoslav Lokica, coach of Split: „After such an game, it is difficult to even say anything. We played very poorly, without any energy, desire, just without everything. I’m a bit ashamed for that reason. With such a young squad as we have, it’s just the way it is. Maybe we’ll make some changes in the team, but that’s our business. We will discuss it at home. Congratulations to the opponent for the victory.“

Petra Božan, player of Split: „We knew it was going to be a tough game. We tried to do our best, but we didn’t enter the game well. We said we wanted to play better, but the result was a loss. We’ll see what we can do now in the domestic league. I believe we will do better.“
