The IMMOunited Dukes got off to a good start and after four minutes they reached a score of 8:2. With five points en suite, the guests from Poland had arrived in the game after slight problems at the beginning. From this point on the quarter was very balanced and the lead changed several times. After ten minutes Klosterneuburg was just ahead with 20:18.

The first minutes of the second leg were also a close match, until Gliwice could break away after five minutes by five points. They were able to maintain this small lead for a long time until Bavcic equalised the game with a three-pointer 20 seconds before the break. Nevertheless, it was the Poles who had the lead at the half thanks to an And-1.

After the break, the visitors started at full throttle and set on 41:34, but the Dukes had the right answer ready and were back with a 7:0 run. Gliwice increased the intensity of the match and once again took a small lead. The final minutes belonged again to the hosts, who scored ten points in a row to a 52:49-lead after the third quarter.

In a contested final phase, the game for Dukes top scorer Christoph Jakubowski was over prematurely, he had to take the bench after his fifth foul. The score was 66:68 before the last minute of the game. But the hosts couldn’t come up with a good offense and so the Poles provided the final score of 70:66 from the free-throw line.

Werner Sallomon, Coach of Klosterneuburg: It was not a good performance from our team against an equal Polish team. We simply didn’t manage to catch up in the decisive phases.

Christoph Jakubowski, Player of Klosterneuburg: As expected, it was a very hard game. It was a good preparation for the rest of the season and Gliwice is a tough opponent. Now the focus is on the next game.

Turkiewicz, Coach of Gliwice: It’s always tough to play an away-game. We had troubles in the beginning and Klosterneuburg played well in the offense. In the end both teams were nervous, but we are happy about the win.

Mandy, Player of Gliwice: It was a great game, both teams pushed each other. Klosterneuburg is a great team and they showed us were we can improve.
