Second quarter both teams successfully attacked the rim, so the difference stood the same. There was a wish at Czech team to lower the gap but defensively they were less agressive and Šenčur slowly raised the score difference. Svoboda as best scorer for Děčín, scored four points in a row, Nichols and Pomikálek scored for two and Děčín was behind -12. Coach Pavković called time out and after players returned to the court, Šenčur scored a partial score 5:0 and after halftime score was 52:25.
The third quarter brought a bit more energy to Děčín and with two slam dunks (Prahl and Pomikálek) guests hope it becomes more obvious. Daneu and Ožegović answered with two ponts and big man Rizvić was perfect from the free throw line (6/6). When Svoboda hit only third three-pointer in the game for Děčín, home coach Pavković interrupted the guest team with a time out. Jan Rebec scored another two three-pointers, Daneu scored two, and once again Šenčur answered well after time out. After third quarter score was 72:60. Last quarter Šenčur started with 7:0 and there was just a question of time, when the game will breake. After four minutes Martinčić, scored 5 points and Malovčič made a lay-up, Šenčur increased the difference to more than 20 points. In the last minutes, Šenčur didn’t allow guests to come closer and the revenge was succesful.
Post-game quotes:
Miljan Pavković, coach of Šenčur: „We took this game very seriously because we saw in Děčín that team is very good. We were able to control the game with our rhythm offensively and defensively. Děčín has endangered us many times, but we were able to stop them and with good reaction we have won. We deserved it. We want to advance to the next level of AAC.”
Gaber Ožegović, player of Šenčur: „We have opened the game very well because we were agressive enough. We have had rises and falls, but we have managed to win. We ended the game in a good way.”
Tomáš Grepl, coach of Děčín: „We knew that Šenčur is much better than the previous game in Děčín. When you played against big mans like Rizvić and Ahmedović, against Rebec and Martinčić, both keept great shooting form. That was a really difficult game for us. When we came back a little bit, when we were only 8 points behind in the third quarter, Šenčur started playing like a hundred percent and we had no chance. We had a great experience playing against such a good team from Slovenia. Hope we will have more chances to play against Šenčur in the future.”
Matěj Svoboda, player of Děčín: “I think the game was decided in the first quarter. Šenčur had a 15-point lead and it was hard for us. They are a very good team and they know how to control the game when they are up. For us it was very tough to come back, because they controlled the game. Šenčur was better today and they deserved to win.”
