In their second Alpe Adria Cup game of the season Lions couldn’t rely on their Center Rados as he rest after a tough league game on the weekend. Traiskirchen Coach Kostic therefore started with Andjelkovic and Brcina inside and Danek, Güttl and Ray on the outside. Praha Coach Repesa decided to begin the game with Appleby, Sehnal, Mares, Sterba and Petruzela. The match up started with good defense and difficult shots for both teams. Both coaches rotated strong from the very beginning. No team could get a real adventure and the first quarter ends 16:14 for the home team. In the second Praha managed to keep their level on both sides and took the lead from Traiskirchen, who can only score 4 points in the first 5 minutes of the quarter. With Guard Danek back on the floor they got back in the rhythm and reduced the deficit to 32:34 at halftime.

The guest team started with a 14:5-run into the second half and suddenly led by 11 points and more. Lions only managed to score 8 points in the whole quarter and had to go with a 40:55-deficit into the last quarter. Andjelkovic started the last quarter with a three pointer for Traiskirchen and gave the Lions fans faith for a comeback. But many turnovers and missed shots from the Lions enabled Praha to get ahead by 30 points till the end. The game ends 47:77 for Praha.

Drago Brcina, player of Lions: “I think we tried hard today, but you can feel the rotation. And after our game this past weekend, the goal was to get our young players to play. But I think, there was not enough effort to play, especially for a home game.”

Florian Duck, player of Lions: “That was a very bad game for us. Unfortunately, we lost the control of the game totally in the second half. Now we have to step up and work hard, to make it better on Sunday in our domestic championship.”

Dino Repesa, head Coach of Praha: “I’m very happy about the victory against the leaderfrom Austrian league, which is absolutly not a bad league. I respect the job Coach Kostic is making this season. It’s big win for us because we are also a ver young team like Traiskirchen is. We need this victories to get confidence. I hope we can continue to play defense like today on saturday in our domestic championship. We are looking forward to improve our offense in the future games. I wish all the best to Coach Kostic and Traiskirchen, espescially in ABL.”

Filip Petruzela, player of Praha: “It was a long drive from Prague, therefore we were tired in the first half I think. But then we started to play our game, we played hard, ran quick, got some steals and the momentum. That’s why we won by 30 points.”
