At the beginning USK scored couple of easy points right under the basket, but they were not able to score from longer distance. So it gave Traiskirchen chance to keep contact with home team which had trouble with 1on1 defence. After first five minutes of quarter USK improved fast break transition and also they started to have more efficient shooting from field and that led to 6 points differencial after 1st period.
Thanks to good ball movement and many open shoots from beyond the arch and also good preasure in defence USK was up 17 in halftime. Consistent rythm of offence as well defence continued in second half for Owls, but they were doing lot of mistakes on both ends of court. Ball preasure led to many steals and easy baskets from fastbreaks and 21 points leading for USK after 3rd quarter.
In last quarter Owls continued with very agresive defence with preasure on the ball and keep dominance for rest of the game.
Dino Repeša, head coach of Praha: “I’m happy that we finished our group with win and that we qualified for quarterfinals of Alpe Adria Cup, so we will see againts who we will play, for sure it is going to be competitive team and we will have to play offensively and defensively on higher level than today. Also we were without our starter PG Sehnal, but they were also without three national team players, so the game was quite different than usual. But we managed with our energy and agresivnes to make it look easy.”
Jakub Tůma, player of Praha: “So we knew that other team will come without couple of guys becouse of national team, as well we’re missing our PG Ondřej Sehnal. We tried to run the floor all time and be faster than our opponent and it mainly worked and I think that we won by good performance.”
Zoran Kostic, head coach of Lions: “We came here without three our guys becouse of participation in national team, some guy are injured and others have their duties in school, so we showed what we can with this young guys”
Oscar Schmit, player of Lions: “It was a tough game for us. We played with many young guys and we ran out of energy in the end, but we did and gave our best.”
