Croatia will be strongly represented in the new season of the Alpe Adria Cup. The players of KK Zabok want to show their good results from the recent past in the international confrontation.
The club was founded in 1977 called „Ivo Lola Ribar“ Zabok. Over the years he has changed his name several times, in the 2006/2007 season he managed to win the second highest competition in a match with BC Crikvenica and since this year he has been playing in the highest competition in Croatia. In the season 2009/2010 the team finished fifth in the league, just behind Cibona, Zadar, Cedevita, and Zagreb.
Who to watch:
Jarvis Garrett – a continuing face in a Zabok jersey. The 27-year-old American point guard pulled the squad in the previous season and at least the same numbers are expected from him in the new season.
Jakov Stipaničev – Zabok’s big summer signing, with experience from Adriatic League 2. The ex-Krka Novo Mesto player comes as a significant boost to the under the rim space.
Antonio Crnjević – a Zabok´s own who has gradually developed into one of the team’s key membes. He averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds per game in the 2021/2022 season.
A word from coach – Jakša Vulić:
„I expect us to grow through games as a team and individually, so the experience of playing these games with teams from other countries and leagues brings us progress in our game, and helps us to achieve better results in our domestic HT Premier League. We are playing a group with teams that have more experience in this kind of competition. Although the teams are still not defined, it seems that Timisoara team has the best team so far, and they are, as far as I think, the favorites in our group. The other teams are going to have to fight for position number two, which takes you to the other round. I already answered about this in my first answer but, maybe I would have to say that we don’t have any pressure on the results, but we are going to do everything it takes to represent our team, our town and Croatian basketball as best as we can, and to create the best result as we can.“
