Meet the newcomer: KK Dubrava Furnir

KK Dubrava Furnir completes the representation of Croatian teams in the Alpe Adria Cup. This club entered the international confrontation after more than 20 years.

The basketball club „Dubrava“ was founded on 22th of April 1976. The first ten years were spent in lower leagues with young players. The first bigger result was achieved in 1986 when the talented generation won 3rd place at the Croatian Championship. In 1988/189 they won without single defeat Croatian Basketball League. With the creation of the independent Croatian state and the formation of the First and Second Basketball Leagues, Dubrava as a well-known basketball center, entered the A2 league, where it played for two years, and with the expansion of the A1 league in the 1993/94 season, it entered the top Croatian league. From 1996 till 2001 the club played in Korac Cup. After years of playing in lower league, in 2020 came promotion to Premijer League.

Who to watch:

Kenan Karahodžić – even though the Bosnian winger is only 26 years old, he has already played in the Euroleague and has a lot of experience. He has been a Furnir player since the previous season and was one of the team’s top scorers.

Mateo Vidović – another key player for Furnir in the 2021/2022 season, the Croatian point guard has a promising future ahead of him, as indicated by his stats and contribution to Dubrava’s game.

Matej Bosnjak – promising summer reinforcement came to the team from Cedevita Junior. During the summer, he performed his national team duties for the Croatian U20 national team. In Furnir, he should take his game to the next level.

A word from coach – Jeronimo Šarin:

„First of all, I expect new experience for our young players, they need to feel different way of playing and AAC is a perfect league for that. The opponents in our group have much more experience than us, a lot of good foreign players and probably a much bigger budget then us, but we will do all we can to come to victory in every game. My biggest expectation is to bring all my players on higher level of basketball, for that I need strong opponents, lot of work and maximum number of high level games, which means we will try to go as further as we can in AAC.“
