Helios Suns from Domžale are going back to the Sixt Alpe Adria Cup Finals. They will defend their title against the MBK Rieker COM-therm from Komarno, after beating Rogaška in the semifinals. Slovenian champions won both games against the team from Rogaška Slatina, the second one in Domžale with the final score 67:62.

Helios Suns started the game strong, but Rogaška got back in it and was leading by five points (54:49) going up to the fourth quarter. But the home team found its stroke again after the two-minute-break and took control of the game with an 11-point scoring run, during which Rogaška did not score a single point. Helios Suns did not surrender the lead again and got another win over the guests from Rogaška Slatina.

Tadej Ferme from Rogaška scored 15 points in the first half, but only got three after the break, yet he still managed to finish the game as his team’s leading scorer with 18 points. Jure Močnik was the top player for Helios Suns, as he scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists. Tomas Kyzlink (13) and Juraj Segaric (11) were the two other players in double figures for Helios Suns.

Dejan Cikic, Helios Suns head coach: “We gathered a bit more power than Rogaska in this game, especially in the second halftime and concluded it as we wished the most. I would like to congratulate both teams for fair play. It was a great feeling seeing so many young talents of both teams on the floor.”

Damjan Novaković, Rogaska head coach: “We had a lot of problems with injuries in the last couple of days so we took this occasion for promotion of young players. The game was really equal and Helios Suns deserved to win and I wish them all the best in the finals.”
