Helios Suns got a big win during the week in Graz and wanted to continue with good results also in front of the home crowd. And it started great for Domžale, with them leading 13:7 in the 6th minute, but got into troubles with a second personal foul of their big man Jure Besedić, so the youngster, 17-year old Adrian Jogan got some early minutes. Guests from Czech Republic got into rhythm in the middle of the second quarter with an 11:0 run, creating good shooting positions to one another and deservingly taking the lead at halftime with 44:37.

Sluneta went for +12 in the beginning of the second half, but then Helios Suns coach, Jovan Beader, changed their defense, going from man-to-man to zone, which caused a lot of problems to guest team. With an 18:2 run Helios went in front by 55:51 and never looked back till the end. We saw some nervous moments in the last ten minutes, with Sluneta trying really hard to get back into the game, but with two home Jures, Besedić and Pelko, with some contribution also from Jaka Brodnik, having a good shooting night, Helios got an important win with 85:78.

In the home team, Jure Besedić scored 28 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and Jure Pelko finished the game with 24 points and 5 assists. Te best scorer for Sluneta was Joshua Treadwell with 16 points.

Jure Pelko, player of Helios Suns: “It was a tough game! They got in front by 12, so we had to show our character and fight really hard to get back into the game. At the end, it was a good game for us, playing without our front man Mahkovic; the youngs gave their part and I think it was a well deserved win at the end.”

Jovan Beader, coach of Helios Suns: “First, I want to congratulate our guys for the fight and the victory of course. Even after we were much behind, we never stopped playing. We had some troubles with Besedić getting two early fouls and Močnik injury strike us at the bad time, but today young Nejc Klavžar played really well at position one, so it wasn’t a big problem. The main twist was our zone defense, when we came back in front and then played calm to the end. We need to solve our deficit at the center position, and with Mahkovic coming back from the national team, this will be a different story.”

Joshua Treadwell, player of Sluneta: “We played a good first half, really collectively as a team, finding our open shooters, driving in at the right time, making some good extra passes. In the third quarter we stopped playing; we tried to make some adjustments to their zone defense but it didn’t work. You win some, you lose some, at the end we came up a bit short.”

Antonin Pištecky, coach of Sluneta: “Congratulations to the home team for the win. It wasn’t easy for us, because we lost a tough game in Graz and Helios just won there by 40, so we had to convince our players that the results don’t mean anything and that we need to fight hard from the beginning of the game. It was a good first half for us but then the third quarter changed our rhythm. We talked during the halftime that they will probably changed their defense, but we still made some bad decisions in offense, we didn’t score from open shots, and that was decisive.”
